They are good kits. A tad bit expensive, but all Koto kits are. As mentioned I've had a few issues with having to glue parts so they sit just right. One thing that is a bit annoying is it's very hard to get rid of all the seams due to their Russian Doll type construction. There are parts within parts, within parts and to get the best out of the kit you need to paint most of them so it's bloody near impossible to mask up the inner parts so you can paint the outer parts after gluing and seam removal so for the most part I just leave it.

One thing to be aware of is that they are now available in Australia through selected outlets but the prices are shocking. As I mentioned they are expensive compared to other kits even in Japan but out here it's wallet destroying.

I don't have any zoids, but I did help my friend build one. My overall impression is that they could have made it simpler in some areas

Yes, the Australian distributor seems to think the fanbois will pay anything for the stuff. They've got a lot to learn.

I just went to a mall 2 days ago. A MG V-Dash costs more than 13500 yen... 4500 yen for a standard RG... Seriously, who is going to buy them with that kind of pricing.

Reminds me of back in 2005, when a HG Seed Freedom kit would set you back AU$ 50-60 at a model shop. Prices have gotten more sane since then but most places that sell old HG Gunpla for 3-5 times their price usually bought them retail from Hong Kong and thought "Oh, the fanboys in Australia will pay big money for this stuff!". EG Retailer + Retail + Retail + Shipping + Shop Owner's cut.

As costly as model shops seem, they still tend to sell just a tad bit over (maybe AU$ 5-15 higher). But I still pass some dodgy-looking shops selling the HG Strike Freedom kits for AU$90-120...and to be honest given the boxart I suspect that's not even a legit bandai kit.

There's a store in Chinatown Sydney that sells their MG kits for around $100 minimum, and up to $160,a small walk up the road is Hobbyco which is much more reasonable.

sounds like the one and only place that sells gunpla in hobart, ridiculous prices compared to the more sane online dealers even inc postage
