Picked up Super Smash Bros. 3DS today ($44 from Target).

a fun but confusing game. Am glad for the ability to customise the controls because the default ones aren't great.
It's a good tide over until the Wii U version is out in November but supposedly having the 3DS version grants you special content on both versions.

Got Ubisoft stuff on their recent Wii U sale.

So playing AssCreed 4 & Child of Light.

AssCreed 4 has fun sailing but the running controls still piss me off constantly. I end up yelling at the TV a lot, especially in those stupid follow missions.

child of light is pretty cool. Beautiful graphics, lovely music but annoyingly bad dialogue. Everything's written in a poetic style but someone who has no grasp of the basics of poetry, so rhymes & metre are ALWAYS off.
Still, a pretty fun game.

Managed to get a cheap secondhand X360 version of X-Com Enemy Unknown and put it into the workplace X360.

Four missions onward, my veteran character in the game is a heav machinegunner named SSgt Ramirez, who's only the veteran because he kicks down all the doors, kills all of the aliens, and finishes the objectives before the rest of the squad can act...

I haven't posted in this thread before because I'm more of a PC gamer, but you had to go and mention X-Com: Enemy Unknown.......god I love that game. I've sunk over 300 hours into that and the expansion Enemy Within according to Steam. I highly recommend the expansion, by the way. Not neccessarily straight away, but it does add a lot of cool stuff that freshens the game up again once you've played it for a while.

Keeping to the thread title though, I'll make a short list of the stuff I've been playing lately.......

Assetto Corsa - I've been a sim racing enthusiast for a long time now, and AC is the current sim of choice for me. They designed it to be easily moddable and already there are dozens and dozens of cars and track mods for it. Some of which are as good or better than the official stuff! Steering wheel etc. recommended.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Yes, I like to drive....hehe.....Assetto Corsa is mentally exausting. ETS2 is relaxing. Just put on some music or a podcast. Again steering wheel is a must. I use the Logitech G27 personally.

Hearthstone - Digital Trading Card Game without any actual trading. You can play it for free without any restrictions. You just won't be able to purchase booster packs as fast as someone who pays for them. The game itself is extremely well designed and fast. Not to mention the high level of presentation that we've come to expect from Blizzard. I haven't touched Diablo 3 since this came out.

Shadow Warrior - Kind of oldskool shooter remade for todays hardware. Lots of sword slicing action in between the shooting. The player character seems to have an endless supply of one-liners as you play. Awesome stuff.

‪#‎XcomDiary‬

Having played the original DOS XComn back in the day am really lvoing my lunch break sessions with the X360 version of X-Com Enemy Unknown. Today I meet up with an old...pain in the ass.

In one word: Chryssalids.

Me: "Oh no. I REMEMBER YOU GUYS!!!"

(Whole squad opens fire on Chrysalids.)
(Ramirez fires rocket launcher at Chrysalids)
(RESULT: Not enough pieces of Chrysalid left to make cupcake holders)

I say we nuke the site from orbit. The only way to make sure.

Oh god!....Chryssalids!!.....run away!!  ;D

They might not be the most powerful enemy, but they're definitely the scariest. They're so bloody mobile!

I bit the bullet and purchased the new version of Elite the other day (they're calling it Elite Dangerous) I haven't spent that much money on a game in a looong time ($77) But of course I had to buy a joystick setup for it too once I discovered that mouse and keyboard controls weren't quite good enough (it was a brilliant control method in Freelancer). As a bonus I can use my steering wheel pedals for 3 extra analogue inputs at my feet. Sweet!  :D

A bit of text and a screenshot simply cannot convey the scope and detail of what Elite is attempting. So here's a vid.

It may look super fancy but at $160 or so it's cheaper than a decent wheel setup.

It's a great time to be a gamer   :D

Finished AssCreed 4 tonight & remembered why I swore off the series after AssCreed 3.

The controls are so vexing, where you suddenly run up walls that you didn't want to, get stuck on things, get seen for no reason or fail a mission for the stupidest reason.
At least the sailing was fun for the most part.

also won an early release of the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate demo for the 3DS.
It looks utterly amazing, the best 3D effects on the 3DS to date! The New 3DS c-stick also helps with what would otherwise be a vexing camera.
Can't wait for the full game!

Dragon Age Inquisition is getting the bulk of my play time, alongside FFXIV and The Last of Us Remastered. I was playing Assassin's Creed Unity, but then PSN finally came back up a few days after Christmas and I was able to download TLoUR. Also, some Disney Infinity 2,0 with the wife.

Alien Base Assault mission - The funny bits Dramatized.

Squad: "The veterans are still recovering from the last mission. Who can we send to scout that dark corridor up ahead?"

Rookie Ibrahim: "Ha, no worry. I will scout ahead." (Macho walk into the darkness)
(Three seconds later)

Rookie Ibrahim: (RUNNING LIKE HELL) "SHOOTEMSHOOTEMSHOOTEMSHOOTEMSHOOTEMSHOOTEMSHOOTEM!!!!"

(chased by SIX VERY ANGRY CHRYSSALIDS)
