HGUC Doven Wolf "Project Cancelled"
« on: March 06, 2017, 08:03:07 PM »

The base kit is a Doven Wolf with various Bandai Builders Parts used for the mods. It’s entirely brush painted with mostly Gunze and a bit of Tamiya & Vallejo. An off white wash was used to give it a dusty look. Various shades of AK Interactive blue & grey filters were used to try and make it look faded. Vallejo Light & Dark Slate Grey pigments were used in multiple layers to build up dust and grime and give it a gritty look. AK Interactive old and fresh oil stains were used for the leaking systems, old & new rust pigments were used for the small amounts of rust and finally the whole thing was dusted with yellow & grey from the Tamiya make up sets.

The hanger is a Kotobukiya Chain Base set that’s had the back filled in and the sides cleaned up as it doesn’t need the interconnector pieces anymore. It’s the only thing that was spray painted as it was just too big to brush paint with the time remaining. The same products were used to weather the base along with some AK slime on the walls.

The short story below outlines the thinking behind it. (Read at your peril)

Project Cancelled
The sounds of the intruder alert filled the air. “Not again!” yelled Head of Security Gordon Sutton, “that’s the third time this week”. That place gives me the creeps he thought as he headed down to the abandoned research centre to investigate. It had been 10 years since Laplace’s Box had been opened and as a consequence all Cyber Newtype research had been cancelled. The hanger he was heading towards housed a casualty of that cancellation.

Anaheim were full stride in modifying the Doven Wolf for high manoeuvrability and to maximise its use for Cyber Newtypes when the decree was given that Newtypes were to be recognised and all Cyber Newtype experimentation was to cease. Funding was withdrawn immediately and the project was shut down forthwith. Ever the optimists Anaheim didn’t scrap the Wolf on the off chance that some unethical backer could be found to keep the project going albeit “unofficially”. Newtype unrest had been growing in recent times and word had leaked that the Wolf still existed. Gordon had to double security at the site as attempts had been made to access the Wolf to destroy it.

On arrival Gordon found nothing out of place as usual but he’d had enough of these alarms and ordered his men to conduct a thorough search of the entire hanger. Use all means available he told them. A full sensor sweep, infrared, ultraviolet, the works. He’d just got back to his office when he got a call from the security team. “You’d better get back down here sir and fast.” “Why? What’s the big deal? You lot afraid of the dark?” said Gordon as he settled back into his plush chair. “It’s not that sir. We’ve discovered ………. ARGH! HELP!” The sound of weapon’s fire came over the radio along with the sound of a mobile suit powering up. “What the …. “ yelled Gordon “it can’t be, not after all these years”. That’s it, they weren’t trying to destroy it, they were trying to steal it. “We’re in the ish now” he cried as he hit the base alarm.
