Tamiya weathering master sets for space weathering
« on: May 02, 2016, 06:41:39 PM »

I've been looking at the tamiya weathering master sets for quite some time but I need help deciding which sets I am going to get. I'm planning on weathering my kits as though they have been exposed to space environment.

I just need suggestions on what colors to get and why you think that would fit into the space theme.

For starters, I wont be needing the ones from set A since they're Sand, Light Sand, Mud.
Set B has soot which I think is good for the thrusters.
set C also looks promising since it has Soot and Rust.
Set F also looks good since it has Titan, Light Gun Metal and Copper.

D, E & F would be my choices.

D gives you Burnt Blue, Burnt Red & Oil stain. Good for showing heated metal and the oil stain can double up as exhaust stains.

E gives you Yellow, Grey & Green. Good for giving it that worn tired look.

F gives you Titanium, Light Gun Metal & Copper. Good for showing bits of metal showing through from space debris impacts.

Don't get any sets with rust unless you plan on using them for ground based kits at a later date. In the immortal words of Alien; In space no one can hear you rust  ;)

SET C actually has Orange Rust, Gun Metal, Silver. Which I think would look good for inner frame weathering.

But Sets D, E, and F is probably more cost efficient since their three colors are applicable on what I need.

I already got SET F. I'll try doing some post shading on the armor parts.
