1/24 Lexus LFA by Tamiya
« on: May 11, 2013, 07:06:25 PM »

So here goes my first car model! I decided to buy this kit after a friend suggested it to me. I was going to start this after my exams, but ended up starting a few days ago instead. Here are some pics of what I've done so far:
Painted the engine and transmission:

Puttied the pin/injection marks on the front hood:

Started priming the body of the car, but unfortunately, I accidentally applied too much pressure and 'broke' a part of it. Even after some cement and putty, there is still a faint line where the breakage occurred.

Puttied back up. Again......

Question: after priming the car in grey, should I use some white primer, then paint my 'final' colour of white? Or can I directly paint the white on top of the primer?

Primed pieces:

Any suggestions and 'help' will be greatly appreciated. :D

Update.

While trying to sand the damaged part, I decided it would be a good idea to try and test fit the clear part that went underneath it. It didn't fit quite right, so I decided the best thing to do was to 'trim' the clear part. Big mistake. Cut out a chunk of plastic that didn't needed to be trimmed so I ended up puttying that up and painting the black trip on the front wind screen on the outside rather than the inside.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Thanks for looking!

Smallish update: I've finished most of the interior, just need to clean up some small details and that's that. Once again, the body has broken. Again.

Added magnets so I can remove the doors.

It broke. Again......

Mounted on chassis to have an idea on how it looks.

That's all for now.
