Initial Unboxing and thoughts:
Nice colors, there's at least 4 differing shades of grey with some black and gold thrown in, lots of detail similar to the HMM zoids line, also lots of small parts giving plenty of opportunity to paint in even more detail, it can change forms from its standing/walking mode to its tank mode and theres a nice base thrown in, that appears to be compatible with chain bases :), the manual is really nice too some outstanding images and each stage of the instructions contains a nice little chart of which runners you will need, plus rather nice camo template added to the paint guide.

The (only) let down, the kit comes with 4 little figures 2 solid, 1 liquid and greyfox(ninja), very kool, every single image of these before release were painted and coming from the hmm zoids line i figured they would be, highly disappointed that they weren't, they are nice and highly detailed but they are going to suck to paint.

interesting note: they really really want you to paint the camo on it, every single image in any part of it has camo and theres an awesome camo template in the manual, the interesting bit is ive played MGS at least 20 times and cant for the life of me remember it having camo haha, a quick google reveals it does ans obviously someone at koto spent a large amount of time on it, i like it and will be giving it a go.

Wonder how close you can get the detailing of this kit to this bad boy http://radtoyreview.com/2012/11/02/review-3as-metal-gear-solid-rex/

hah ye i saw that amazing to say the lest pity it was $500 before and now is up on ebay for the like of $800 at scalpers :S the LEDS should be doable, although the changing power one in the rail gun would be interesting, and adding some under panel detail could be done by the brave too ill prob give the leds a go though

also the 3a is based of MGS4 whilst koto's is OG MGS1 not much difference but worth noting

Didn't know there was much of a difference, other than Rex didn't have the rail launcher in 4.

I hope they release some other Metal Gear kits, would be great to get RAY, Shagohod even a 1/1 Mk. II

Looks like a lot of work. I'm not that keen on Koto kits (spoilt by Bandai) so I think I'll give this beast a miss.

Here's some scans of the article in the Feb13 Dengeki Hobby.

Fury, you horrible, horrible person. :P

You convinced me that I need this kit. It came back into low stock on HLJ, so I stashed it in my warehouse. I'm thinking something of an urban camo scheme....
