Problem uploading content to The Catapult
« on: May 29, 2012, 02:27:00 PM »

Hi GAF Members,

I've have been trying to upload some pictures of my MG Desinty build to The Catapult, saving a draft each time I uploaded a pic.  When I went to post my message I got a blank screen in my web browser.  So I hit back and tried to find my most recent draft so I could re-submitt it, but then got a message saying that my post had been successful.  I checked The Catapult thread but found no post by me.

I still have my old drafts saved, but my most recent draft that I wanted to submitt is no longer there.

What am I doing wrong?

Cheers
JTG

Most likely your pictures are too large. It is a known bug in the forum software. Best thing to do is either resize the image and upload again or upload the pictures to photobucket or paintedhobbies.com and link to them instead.

Thanks GOZ and Sonar  :)  Pics are now up.  I'll remember to resize them in the future.

I've been having trouble with submitting new topics to The Catapult as well. It seems that if I add more than 3 or 4 pictures in the original post I get a message saying there was an error and the form timed out. Then it says that the subject and body sections were left blank -.- I found a way around it by just putting one picture in the first post and the rest in a reply post.

judging from your evangelion collection thread your images are pushing the boundries of max size for the forum, in both file size and resolution, give resizing the images doen to something along the line of 1920x1080 (HD) or smaller and aim for a file size of <2mb, you should have no issue getting multiple of those to upload, also using external image hosts like imgur/google etc will help greatly

It seems you've read and replied to every other topic on the site surely you've read the one tells you how to post pics so it doesn't kill the site  ???

I was under the impression that if they would upload, they were small enough. But I guess I'll just have to resize them before hand from now on.

Any Idea how long the wait is for anything to post?  I have tried to post 4 times each time it says  "waiting for GAF" then nothing.  I know the pics are the right size and what not, just not sure do they have to get approved by a moderator first or something? All the "read me first" sections didn't anything about that so I wasn't sure.

Pictures don't need approval and if you are hosting them externally then the picture size has no effect apart from making it difficult to view a very large picture as it doesn't all fit on the page. The only time picture size will kill the topic is if you attach it to the topic using the attachments and other options.

Maybe it's the actual file size (not dimensions) that causing the delay and the fact you are in the US. Fury or Shaid should be able to advise on that.
