MG 00 Raiser ANA scheme ver. zenma5ter
« on: March 17, 2012, 04:07:26 PM »

My entry to the 00 Group Bake. Inspired by the ANA Sky Project Gundam colour scheme. Colours that I've used, Mr Colour's Sky Blue (for the yellow and red parts), Off White (for the white parts... duh!), Steel (weapons and parts of the frame as steel is slightly blacker), Gold (some parts of the frame and weapons), and Tamiya's Metallic Blue (main blue for the whole kit), Clear Blue (on some parts to give it more 'pop', Gunmetal (internal frame colour), Brilliant Blue (as a base for sky blue, for better coat and brightness).

Lets start with the 00 Gundam.

I personally prefer the 00 Gundam more than 00 Raiser, it has got this lean, mean look.. The proportion on this kit is good, not great, good. The direct front profile is just bad, not sure why... but the side-front-ish profile is just a killer.. Articulation wise, like it's predecessor is pretty decent, but it does suffer the weak ankle syndrome. With the GN drives attachment, the arm/shoulder articulation does suffer abit, but nothing too major.

Of course I am a fan of the 00 Gundam's design, out of all of them the model kit version of 00 Raiser does not get much love from me. The 0 Raiser made everything out of proportion, and of course the issue of the kit doing limbo all the time and the splits. The waist is just not strong enough to carry the extra weight. Poseability is alright I guess, like I mention in the previous post, without the 0 Raiser, it can do so much more. But the 00 Raiser does look decent (from certain angles) just standing there all huge and magnificent. The switch on the drives mount is a great idea to hold the binder, but I was hoping Bandai would design it in such a way that it is covered up. Plus, no stands for the 0 Raiser?? The only way to attach it to an action base is if you combine it with the GN Sword.. T.T

Great clean job! Definitely like the colour scheme and the comment where you stated that the 00 gundam looks 'crap' from on, I completely agree with you there. :D Too bad you didn't add the Raiser to the 00 Gundam.... Good job none the less.  ;D

Thanks! White parts are painted with Mr. Colour's Off White, I found it to be whiter than the stock colour, but with a slight gloss.. Might be just my own perception.

Looks great.

What did you think of the Sky Blue?

Thanks guys!!!

@Falldog: Alone, the sky blue is abit too cyan-ny, which is why I painted the bits on the chest first, it looks really good together with darker metallic blue. I think it gives a good contrast, and the brightness is just right.. Although I do wish I could make it metallic to be more ANA like..

Awesome Job, that blue is super nice!

I still need to start painting my seven sword, but finishing sinanju comes first :P

Loving the ANA colour scheme. Makes me think I could do more with my NG 1/100 00 gundam  :)

@Sonar - Thanks mate! Seriously, it isnt as fiddly as the delta +, and I've built the MG Exia and Qan[T], so it was pretty straight forward. Finish in 3 days (for painting and assembling), and most of the time was just waiting for the paint to dry.

@Xenomorph - Thankyou man, of course, nothing comes first (it better be an MG >.<!!! ).

@arifmetic - Thanks! It is a personal taste. I guess I am more of an artistic gunplar, I tend to play with colours (black and white arent colours!! hehehe) and decals (especially fond of the 00 series designers ver. decals), with clean build. I think most people are realist gunplar, and prefer theirs to be all mangled up (feet-the gunny) and weathered/preshaded (hemish).
