RG Zaku 1 Custom Conversion
« on: December 18, 2011, 03:07:33 PM »

I started a Zaku 2 group build on Reddit's r/gunpla sub-reddit. Originally the finish date was October 31st, but due to some snags in receiving a shipment of poly putty and other obligations kept me from finishing on time.

Like always Plamo Uk paints were used to primer, paint and topcoat.

I went with a color scheme reminiscent of the Zaku 1 with the contrasting thighs, arms and feet. I although it's hard to see there are two different colors of blue used on the legs, arms and feet. I purposely kept the modifications to the Zaku 1 toned down, personally I don't care for loading kits up with an arsenal's worth of guns.

Great work, the paint looks super clean and with using RG parts it has loads of details as well. Nice one!

Wow!
this looks x1000 better than HGUC. ^ ^

by the way any reason why the side skirts hanging higher than the front skirts?
Was there any issue fitting those? Or this is to give the space for waist joint movement?

On the RG Zaku 2 the area above the front skirt is occupied by the 'power cables' I had to eliminate those for the Zaku 2 the area looks a little empty.

That color scheme is amazing. With out the blue one would think this was a black n' white photo. I have an order of Plamo UK paint and can't wait to try it out.

Thanks!

You won't be dissapointed with the Plamo UK paint. It's soooo much better than tamiya or gunze/Mr. Color.

That is quite the statement, Tamiya and Mr. Hobby used correctly are already amazing paints compaired to other hobby/ art supplys. I will hold you to that :)

The thing with paints is that the environment of the area they're used in can make a heap of a difference. That's why people in the UK love Citadel paints, but people in Australia where it's much warmer can sometimes think they're a piece of ish. >_>

I'll be interested in your results with the Plamo stuff if you try it, @mokana_man.

That's an easy fix, a little lever thinner or lacquer retardant will fix that if it is anything like the Mr. Hobby gundam synthetic range (which should also be crappy in Japans warmer weather). Placed an $80 order awhile ago so I'm also looking foward to it.
