Not sure if this would be better in the Hobby Link Japan topic or anything, but I've got a question (that I can't get an answer from the faqs) and another kit related question (sorry if they're a bit stupid), so:

1: When you place an order with HLJ they charge you once the order is ready to ship right?  So I wouldn't have a problem ordering, say, the Unicorn Banshee MG now and having the money in my debit account before release right?

2: I made the mistake of getting an Action Base 1 when I bought a RG recently, do the modern Master Grades (Sword Impulse and later) use AB1's or AB2's?

1. Correct you can order a MG Banshee and not be billed until it ships.

2. 90% of MGs from 2007 onwards use Action Base 1, while Most HG will use an Action base 2

Action Base 3 was released specifically with RG kits in mind, but an AB2 will do the job.

hi just wondering how does HLJ shipping work?
I had a look on the FAQ it does say each item has its own estimated shipping cost. But if i want to order 7 Kits does that mean i will be charged the individual shipping price stated in each item? or can they combine it and shipping will be much less?

Each item has its own shipping cost, however they will combine items so the shipping will be less.  The only snag is that they don't know how much shipping will be until your order is ready to go basically.  They do send you an email with the price of your order including shipping once they know so that you can pay it.  I have ordered from them on a handful of occasions and had no complaints.

I think Gunny posted something on this as well a while back. Basically, its something to be aware of and I think if you contact them if the system just adds everything up piece by piece (something to be aware of if ordering lots of little things), they will adjust it to the actual price of postage. But, as Epi said, they are pretty good and I dont think anyone on the forum (has publicly) had any issues with them.

ye the fq says to add up the total for all the items and then subtract roughly 20-40% off of that and you get a good estimate of the final price, ive made a few orders through hlj now and ive always just taken 30% off the total for all items and ive always been almost spot on the actual price so ye, it all does depend on how well the items you order tetris into a box though which is why they cant tell you before hand but a 30% off estimate is generally a good benchmark

For about 7 kits you want to make sure you ship ems so you get a tracking number, expect to pay somewhere in the vacinity of $70-$100 for postage, saying that it still works out cheap, they are always packed well and shipped fast. With ems postage from japan i have the item on my doorstep on the third day after it left japan.
