Zombster is pleased to announce that Zombster will be running the first Bandai GunPla Builders World Cup - Brisbane Qualifier this year through the Brisbane Supanova event happening on the 4th - 6th of November at the RNA Showgrounds.  Zombster is very excited to bring the qualifier to Brisbane and hopes to increase the Brisbane presence at the 2012 Australian finals in Sydney.

We're still ironing out the details for the event, but we wanted to make sure that you have plenty of time to prepare your entries.  You can submit your entry form here.  You will also find the current rules and regulations regarding the event as well as the category definitions.  A brief explanation of the categories:

Standard
For entries built out of box with no modification or scratch building and no dioramas.  Painting and official Gundam decals are encouraged.  One entry per person.

Advanced
Open for any type of kit remodeling, scratch building is allowed for additional parts to incorporate with the kit. Multiple entries allowed per person.

As with the Sydney finals, there are also matching junior categories for those 14 and under.

As Brisbane Supanova is a 3-day event, we kindly ask everyone to bring their entries on Friday, 4th of November while Supanova’s doors are open, 1-7 PM.  We highly recommend if you are going to attend the Supanova event to purchase a weekend pass for easy (read: easier) entry on Saturday and Sunday.  People’s Choice votes will only be accepted on Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM.  The winners will be announced Sunday afternoon.

Please use this thread for questions and comments.  We are open to suggestions.  We will be announcing further information regarding the awards soon.

Wow! This is amazing news guys, Going to have to try and get a really nice turn out. Quick question about the standard category - If bandai decals are not available for a kit, like the rezel, would it then be acceptable to use other decals to improve appearances?

We're going to go with no on this one, as the BANDAI rules indicate that they want nothing unofficial on the unit. It does suck a bit if there are no official decals for the unit, but my recommendation would be to create the detailings you are after via customised paint work.

Thanks for the reply zombster, will definately work around the paint job.

This one we'd say yes - if it's a BANDAI GunPla related decal.

Just a small issue with time frames.. Does this mean that QLD has three months to build their entries to qualify for GBWC 2012, (but NSW/other states gets a year?)

Glad to hear you guys got the sponsorship locked down. The offer stands. Any way we can help we're more than happy.

If I recall the Perth event is in January, but this hasn't kept other WA entries from appearing in the finals.  The purpose of our event is to get Queenslanders who wouldn't have otherwise participated with the Sydney finals to get involved with these events.  Since we've already started receiving registrations, we can proudly say we have accomplished that goal.  Also as this is the first of many, if this one is too tight of a time frame, perhaps you should try for next year's event.  If you recall, the first BAKUC in Australia also had only a few months notice.  This year's BMKWC finals were only officially announced and open for registration a few months in advance.  You knew the finals were coming since the previous year, but what about those who only heard of the competition with HobbyCo and SMASH's official announcement?

If this event is successful, we will push for a corresponding event for April's Supanova at the Gold Coast, but that announcement will only be made at the end of this year after this event.

^Well mate, since you offered...  ;D ;) ...........

Gundam Australia are proud to announce that in conjunction with and infinite thanks to Zombster, Hobbyco, and Bandai, we will be presenting Zombster's Gundam workshop throughout the convention!

This will really be a great opportunity for Brisbane's anime fans, Otaku, and otherwise casually interested folks to try their hand at some gunpla all for the cost of admission only!

I have two spaces available for workshop supervisors, and if anyone else from the forum will be attending you are most welcome to come along and lend a hand if you wish! As always any time that you are able to volunteer is tremendously appreciated. Hands up?!

Also largely plagiarised @ GAF Blog ;)
