Kshatriya WIP
« on: August 14, 2011, 10:25:57 PM »

Finally getting around to starting a new project which will most likely be my major entry for next years Gunpla Builders World Cup - the HGUC Kshatriya!

Initial plans are to mod the crap out of it and then give it a special custom paint job (to be revealed later on!). Anyhoo, here are some pics :

Test fit :

Modded beam sabers into a double ender  :o :

And some mod work on the back pack :

Comments and suggestions more than welcome as I progress!

I'm liking what I'm seeing here! This should be exciting to watch. Such a great looking kit.

I got a good feeling about this :-) Can't wait to see where you go with your mods, especially after the work on the GP01. The IC sockets look like a great fit for the front and the vent/chain work on the backpack allowing you to see 'into' the kit is awesome.

When you are making smaller openings in the armour, such as the ones so you can see the chain, are you still using the drill/cut technique? Or is there an easier way of doing it?

Basically, I drill out each corner then along each edge with a couple of mm between each hole. I use my hobby knife to then cut the center out by cutting the plastic between each hole. The knife is then used to clean up some more by shaving it back carefully until is is in a rough shape I want and then I finish up by using some needle files to square it all off and make it nicer.

Don't know of any other way than this - it can be a little time consuming but it is worth it if done right.

Feel free - that's what the pics are for, so anyone can see what I have done and then use it for their own mods.

Hmmm, interesting. I've thought about getting that kit for a while, might have to see how yours goes...

Straight out of the box is pretty awesome. It's one of the better kits I have made in recent years but it does have stability issues if the wings aren't set correctly.

When I was playing around with it when I took the test fit photos, a couple of times it fell over because I moved the wings by accident so, as you Sonar says, it is best to have the stance of wide feet and even wing spread and all will be good.

Cool. Thanks for that.

Mind you, if I get my hands on it, it won't stay stock-standard for long. My sister has a backstory for the Gundam I made her, & I'm interested in expanding on it...

Something along the lines of her pilot barely escaping the unit of a warwacky General during their eradication of several villages, then the General escapes punishment by running & starting up a mercenary army, led by a destructive MS...

This MS is a very destructive MS, I've got the 1st Unicorn DVD...
