MG Zaku2 v2
« on: June 17, 2011, 12:18:11 PM »

I can put this on the finished shelf now
Desert ops MS-06F Zaku2
Didnt want lots of dings or chips on this, just wanted the decals all chipped and worn without large chunks being taken out of the armour.

I had issues with this kit, and my stupidity in not gloss coating over the top of my decals and putting the flat coat down and silvering all the decals, so a respray was in order and new decals were done and the weathering was done again.

Sonar I now have my heavy gunner :)

Already seen it in the other thread. Looking good.
Silvering is caused by air bubbles underneath the decal, which is why it is preferred the surface to apply decal is gloss coated. Decal softener/set helps as the help decals conform to the surface by partially dissolving the decal film. The film typically has a different finish than the paint so for decal film to really disappear, you'd have to gloss coat everything, which brings other surface up to the decal's glossiness, sand flat, gloss coat again then flat coat to the desired level. A lot of work. I also find gundam decals typically thicker than the good quality decals produced for scale models (eg by Cartograph) making it hard to bring level.

Great choice of colors. Very military. Shading is just enough too. Top stuff yet again Hemish.

He the heavy gunner, dropping from cloud cover

Your preshade game has stepped up a notch in a short couple of kits.

Love the earth tones. Just lovely selections. Quite like the Kawaguchi Zaku I picked up in Japan come to think of it.

Looking forward to seeing what you can accomplish with those chain bases.

The army is amassing.. Open the gates of Midian!

That pic is comprised of seven seperate yet equal segments of sweet win, much like a good mandarin.

It has been previously mentioned, but this is my official challenge to you to complete a platoon of 20 Zakus and achieve legendary Gunplar status and acclaim from like minded webnerds the world over.

20 Earthy coloured Zaku by the end of 2012.

..the last words you hear, then the smoke appears

Lovely work dude. Definitely looking forward to seeing this one up close. The Zeonic System decal is quite rad.

Glad you like, he is one of my favs I must admit and doin more of these will be lots of fun, I think I need to order another 4 or 5 to get me to 20 of these kits so to finish by end of 2012 will be a challenge especially with things like the Delta Plus thrown in the mix.

Incredible work man!! I don't know why but I don't really like Zaku's all that much. But this color scheme and your work quality makes me want one. This latest kit of yours and the green Gouf in the group pics are my personal favorite.

Now all we need is someone to represent the feddie with MGs.  ;D

I like it mate :) pre shading is great and I am digging the skull decal on the shield

I think I even spy a bit of desert dust on his boots and the weathering is subtle but effective

Nice hanger shots too :)

20 of these bad boys will be very awesome Good luck my man
