How to use R&D Department
« on: September 17, 2010, 08:30:44 AM »

G-Day all
Ok for this section to create a new poll:

Thread name should read:
(MS name and code)(version/mode/special)(grade)(scale)
eg: Unicorn Gundam RX-0 (Unicorn Mode) HG 1/144

Poll question should read:
What is your status with this kit?
Poll options should be:
Want
Back log
Built

Settings:
-enable ability to change vote, so users can update if they have gone from want to back log to built
-no limit to poll
-maximum 1 vote
-show results to anyone

The first post of the thread should contain:
-Year released
-Release number (eg: HGUC 101)
-Size & weight
-Rough cost
-Origin of unit (eg: series/game/manga/ect)
-A picture of the box art.

Please use the additional options/attach function for this first picture. Ensure the picture is approx 500kb and no more than 1200 x 900 pixels. This puts the picture on the site's database so that if for whatever reason your personal photo account is not working the picture will still be viewable. All pictures in the following posts can be attached as you see fit.

Please refer to the attach pictures if you are not sure.

If you start a poll please cast the first vote in it   ;)

Following posts are for open discussion about the kit.
Things that you like/dislike, interesting features or other info that others may find useful when deciding to purchase or build said kit.
Also a good place to discuss ways of getting around kit specific issues.

It will take a while to populate but should be a useful resource once it fills out ;)

Please note: If you want to start a topic to gauge interest/popularity in a particular kit then please use the Officer's Bulletin.

Should also include what series it's from.

Random I think it would be a good idea to sub categorize by grade within R&D. That way you can still use advanced search (by clicking the magnifying glass and selecting only the R&D Dept. & Child Boards) within the R&D parent section for all relevant, say, Zaku results across the grades, but if you want to look at all postings from a specific grade it will be much easier.

I agree that each topic needs some form of write up and I definitely would really like to see a link to purchase the kit from our sponsors in every thread.

You can repost some of the info from the HLJ write up if you like, but I would prefer to avoid having a duplicate entry to HLJ's catalogue. It would be ideal if the topic's author could search for a kit review and post an excerpt from it with a link to the full review.

So as an addendum can I ask that each topic as a minimum requires a link to the HLJ listing for that kit and also a few sentences about the kit with a link to the source?
