Just like the 1/48 RX-78 this is just an upscaled HGUC kit. It has the same limited movement that the RX has although it does end up looking better straight out of the box. The kit has a huge amount of molded in detail and benifits greatly from panel lining. One of the shockers on it are the energy pipes  :( They are absolutely horrible just snapped and I ended up gluing mine to get rid of the grand canyon joint lines they all had.

The decal set is much better than the RX and I only added a few more near some of the panel latches. Whilst its okay unpainted the vast expanse of pink (call it what you want Sonar, it's still pink  :P) was a bit much so I used the RG 1/144 colour scheme on mine just to break up the PINK. One disappointing aspect was the lack of a Bazooka. Now that the grunt version is out if I had my time again I'd definately get that instead.

All in all a good kit that didn't take anywhere near the amount of effort to make it look good as the RX did.

Nice...I have the grunt version, this and the RX 78-2 on my "I would love to own but cant afford them" list....maybe a Birthday and Christmas combined group gift (if I  beg for it from the extended familia!) and then take advantage of the HobbyCo End of Year Sales....

Fun build. I cut out all the bits and threw them all back in the box to trim sand and assemble. Testament to the simplicity of the build. I find them short, fun, and really satisfying to build these mega size things.

Does this version have the runner numbers on the parts like most of the Zaku II? I thought that (along with the part picture on the runner!) was a nice touch
