Big kit  :o Despite all the hype this is really nothing more than a scaled up 30th Anniversary HGUC RX-78-2.

It has a movement range very similar to an HGUC kit. It screams out for paint. I built it unpainted at first just to see what it looked like and it looked just like I thought it would, a giant blob of white plastic with a few red and blue bits  :D

It has an extremely basic water slide decal set and comes with a book that shows you how to detail it up a bit. The model shown in the book is also painted using the 30th Anniversary colour scheme. The book also shows a Real Type coloured version. Dengeki Hobby released a set of stickers for it in the May 2010 edition that allow you to make it look exactly like the 1/1 version. These stickers are very thin and once on are almost as good as decals and with a coat of matt you really can't tell the difference.

I chose to paint mine in 30th Anniversary colours and use the Dengeki Hobby stickers.

Below is a pic of the rest of the box, a pic of my finished model and a comparison pic with 3 MG RX-78's (1 original, 1 ver 1.5 & 1 ver 2.0), 2 HGUC RX-78's (1 HG & 1 30th Anniversary) and an RG RX-78.

Yes it is a :gentei: item available on ANA flights last year. It is currently the pride of my collection. Seam lines for days though..

Thanks for putting that up. Now that I've seen it the flesh so to speak I now how much to push the person I'm in contact with who has one for sale.

Just one question. The blue on the HGUC ANA kits looks iridescent but on this it looks plain. Is that correct or is it just the way you've taken the photo?

No that's correct. The HG ANA kits are metallic finish. The MSM kit is not. Definitely worth the purchase, not a common kit by any means.

Thanks. It has taken the gloss (ha ha) off it a bit knowing that it doesn't have the metallic finish. Might have to concentrate on the HGUC kits.

I'd like another one if it is available somehow.

These guys all will have something recent about the Unicorn ANA version on their blogs. Busterbeam @ Plamoaddiction has all three of the HG ANA's.

http://www.gaijin-gunpla.com/

http://americansalaryman.com/

http://lupes.wordpress.com/

All 3 of them are available at GG Infinite as well.

The main Mandarake store in Nanako has just put one up. If you're going to Tokyo on your trip it's just near the Nanako station at the far end (from station) of Sun Mall.

Why, so you can spend more time around the reactors  :o

The Fukuoka store has one too. They are down south near Nagasaki.

Agreed...this is just a big HG but it was fun to build!!!

The Zaku seemed to be a bit of a better build for some reason??(maybe cause it was second time round?)

@ Sonar...cant wait to build my ANA 1/48 though seeing your pics,Im a little disappointed about the blue!
