Engineering Corps / Tutorial : Modifying Limb Proportions
« on: December 12, 2013, 05:42:09 AM »
In this tutorial, I demonstrate how easy it is to modify the length of a Gunpla 'limb' by doing a little bit of 'plastic surgery'.

Why would you want to do this sort of modification? Well some Gunpla Builders feel that some kits aren't proportioned correctly and wish to rectify what they see as an error, where as some, like myself, just like to change the way a kit looks by doing small modifications like this.

Engineering Corps / Tutorial : Easy Cast Iron Effects
« on: November 16, 2013, 06:51:19 PM »
Ever wanted to give your Gunpla a more realistic, worn metal look? In this tutorial, I'll demonstrate how easy it is to create a Cast Iron effect using some Solvent Glue and an old Toothbrush.

WARNING: Solvent Glue can be hazardous to ones health, so please use in a well ventilated room in short periods.

The Catapult / HGUC Geara Doga

Here's something that's been sitting on the work bench for a while now and I've finally got around to finishing it, the HGUC Geara Doga :

Some minor mods done but it was more a mental health build than anything.

The Catapult / The Attack of Zeon - Sazabi Diorama
« on: September 19, 2013, 08:59:14 PM »

As the battle raged on outside the Colony, the attack moved inside and into the heart of the Federations territory. Noticing the High Mobility Prototype Sazabi entering the Colony through a gaping hole in the outer hull, the lone GM pilot knew that this may well be the last thing he would ever do. He had to stop the Sazabi no matter what happened, the survival of the Colony was all that mattered. The pilot pushed the thrusters to max and sped inside the Colony after the Sazabi.

Landing near a power substation that powered one of the main military bases, the pilot readied himself for battle. Before he could even draw out the beam saber, the Sazabi was on him and next thing he knew he was flat on his back staring back up at the gaping hole in the hull he just came in through. Fear set in as the pilot tried desperately to get the GM back on its feet only to see another Mobile Suit walking towards him over the hill. 'What in gods name is that?' he thought as the Dra-C Walker came into view. 'This is it' he muttered to no one in particular as his attention turned back to the Sazabi and the horror that was about to be unfolded onto him......

This took nearly 13 months from the first snap until I packed it up for the GWBC. I estimate well over 300 hours build time and over 400 decals over all 3 models. The Sazabi contains 3 different kits (MG Saz, HGUC Kshatriya, SD Kshatriya), the Dra-C Walker has 3 as well (HGUC Dra-C, SD Kshatirya and SD Zeong) and the GM is OOB.

And there is this of course :

This build will be appearing at Gundam Front Tokyo in Japan just before Christmas! :D

I've got tons of WIP photos to put up later on if anyone is keen, but until then :

The Catapult / HGUC Sinanju

Engineering Corps / Tutorial : The Reverse Wash Technique
« on: July 27, 2013, 08:36:12 PM »
Painting the raised areas on some of the Unicorn series of kits can be a real chore especially with the sleeved areas on the Zeon kits. In this tutorial, I will demonstrate an easy way to paint these raised details without much effort, using the Reverse Wash technique

The Catapult / HGUC Acguy
« on: June 08, 2013, 07:32:28 PM »
Here's my latest, the Acguy :

Some minor mods done and removed the feet and lower legs so he could stand in the water. The base is a picture frame and the glass topped with Vallejo water effects. He is attached to the glass using a generous amount of 2 part Epoxy glue that was given a flowing water effect using a skewer to shape it when it was semi cured.

The Catapult / Kapool
« on: June 07, 2013, 11:04:40 PM »
Finished this guy a while back but just took pics today :

Small mods done like IC pins for thrusters, drilling out the gun barrels and a new monoeye. He was actually a test bed for sponge chipping.

Engineering Corps / Tutorial : Chipping Effects using a Sponge
« on: May 02, 2013, 07:40:30 AM »
There are many different ways to weather and chip the paint on your models. In this tutorial, I demonstrate an easy method using a sponge to create realistic wear and tear on your models.

The Catapult / MG Gouf ver OYW
« on: February 27, 2013, 04:41:47 PM »
I hated what I originally did with the OYW Gouf many years ago, so recently I decided to mod and repaint it into something more weathered.

Few small mods including swapping the collars out for springs, flipping the fin upside down, recessing holes all over, vents on the side of the 'mouth' area, new 1/100 Zeon hands (the Bandai ones), a Kotobukiya Gatling Gun and some hand sculpted joint covers and Zimmerit armour.

The Catapult / HGUC ReZel - The Red-Zel
« on: February 04, 2013, 07:44:24 PM »
Here's one I finished late December but only got around to taking pictures today, the HGUC ReZel that I have called the "Red-Zel" :

Nothing fancy, just a new coat of paint and some Aurora stickers.

Joint Exercises / 2013 Gunpla Builders World Cup Discussion Thread
« on: January 01, 2013, 10:08:54 AM »
It's the first day of a new year so it's time to kick off a new official discussion thread for this years GBWC!

There has been no official announcements of dates as yet, but it is widely known that SMASH is moving this year due to the renovations at the Sydney Convention Center and will most likely be held early August as opposed to mid July.

So feel free to discuss anything and everything to do with the Australian GBWC 2013, whether it be what you are building to what you think of the competition.

Important and relevant links :

Last years wrap up topic (for ideas and inspiration!) :

And some previous years photo galleries :

Unless the rules change, I'll be only entering in the Open once again so all my efforts will be put into my 1 entry rather than into 4.

So everyone, what are your plans for the GBWC??
