The Catapult / 1:144 HG Exia
« on: May 10, 2015, 04:00:51 PM »
Hi guys,

This is a High Grade Exia that I had finished a few months back, been to busy to get up.

I did some basic remodelling of the joins to get rid of unwanted seam lines and I used markings that I got from Samueldecal.

I did some experiment with some line work, and it didn't work like I wanted it to. but have learned more for next time.

That's what I love about this hobby always something new to learn

Also here is the full album if you want to see more

This was part of a group build at another forum.

It was to build a model with no paint and see how much you could make it look like a painted model as possible.

I do admit that I would like to build it again and do a proper job.

All the pictures can be found here

But here is what I came up with in the end

I didn't really do much special with this build except add RG markings. It came out alright and looks good on my shelf.

You can find the whole album for it here

A nice little build this one.

Painted with Tamiya Spray cans.

This is a great kit and came out better then I thought. I recommend it to anyone. But it is huge when completed. And I can see what it is zero g suit only. It would get destroyed quite easily on the surface

A full album can be seen here

And Video view

And the build up

The Catapult / Sinanju 1:48 Display Head
« on: February 15, 2014, 05:00:28 PM »
between procrastinating doing the FG 1:44 Guncannon (I have done some work bit not good enough to show yet)
I did this a few weeks back.
I just wanted a strong red. I'm not to big a fan of metallic finishes on my models. As most military machines are painted to stop rust.

So I present my Display Base Sinanju head.

now just to finish what I ant to put on it

Finally finished and here it is. Still learning to take better pics with my old camera.

I have finally finished the base.

Mobile Suit Hangar / RX-77-2 Guncannon 1:144 Old Style

I want to try my hand at an older kit.

These can be challenging as there are no poly cap joints and the seam lines can be a bit of work to remove. And a good skill tester.

What I want to do is update most of the internal joints so it should hopefully have a bit more mobility then the original joints which are all plastic and get rid of all the seam lines. But also retain the original build of the kit.

I want to stand this next to my HGUC version just to sort of show a history of this MS in model versions. To think they did this before CAD was really being used in most industries.

The instructions I think were all hand drawn for this old kit pretty impressive. And the newer ones are all CAD drawn these days. What makes the old ones impress me is the fact that doing it by hand would of taken it a while and there really is no ability to use references and all had to be redrawn for each part. (Am a draftsman by trade. Also included one piece of my work to show what I do for a living)

Just one question I ask myself on this model. Should I decal it up?

I have been working on this on for a while. it's the detailing that takes the time but it is still good to see it as it goes.
But basically it is an 00B with a few enhancements

The Catapult / HGUC RX-79
« on: April 05, 2013, 01:03:27 PM »
This is a recently finished RX-79 HGUC. I tried to do some panel lines and failed on the chest. But it was a learning curve which I am slowly getting past.

I also used some decals from samueldecals. Not bad but I have to put some decal protective coat before using it they just broke up to easy I found and the protective coating worked.

But other then that OOB build oh yeah and I painted it

you can see more of what I am working on here, and others that I completed

Engineering Corps / Light Grey Panel Lines on Darker Grey's or black
« on: December 27, 2012, 02:57:09 PM »
Hi Guy's

I was just wondering the thoughts on the use of light grey panel lines on Darker Greys and Blacks.

It has just always got me that you can't really see the panel lines in the darker grey's and can't put any on black at all. And there is some nice details. I have thought about dry brushing. But I really only do that when I am trying to weather a model.

Just wondering what people think of this.

and sorry of this has come up in a topic before

Finally after all this time complete. Mistakes and all....First real completed Gundam in about 2 years

It was a fun build in the end, and the decal make it. And it gave me chance to play around with my camera settings and figure out how my photo booth worked.

Let me know what you guys think

Engineering Corps / Airbrushing White
« on: July 02, 2012, 06:18:00 AM »
I have always had troubles airbrushing white. And am wondering how others go about getting theirs to work and look so good.

Should it be done in multipul coats? Or do you have the thin the mix more?

Just been a bugging me for ages

thanks in advance

Mecha Plamo Display / 1:100 VF-0S Wave Battroid
« on: December 31, 2011, 12:42:52 PM »
This is the Wave 1:100 VF-0S Battariod model.

It is a nice little kit. even though it is molded in colour and meant to be snap fit and all you have to do is apply waterslides.

It is all painted and the only waterslides I used was for the detailing. All the black stripes are painted. and the only disappointment is the fact I was nearly completely done and the crack developed in the left knee. and to much for me to fix.....

Hope you enjoy it

Mecha Plamo Display / 1:72 Macross Zero VF-0S
« on: December 25, 2011, 06:55:21 AM »
This is an VF-0S that I have been working on. All I have to do it detail the the tail fins and the leg armour and gunpod.

All the panel lines have been done with drafting pens, and this is before I just recently started to use the washes. but will not for the rest of this kit as it might change the over all look.

This is for you Hamish. Happy Christmas.
