Joint Exercises / Supanova Gold Coast 2015 GAF Display (free entry)
« on: March 17, 2015, 01:13:46 PM »
Hi guys!

Most of you know Gold Coast Supanova is coming up, and I know I've talked to a few in the store about their entries that they are looking to put in to the model competition. For those of you who aren't aware check out for info (it's at the Convention Centre at the Gold Coast on Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th), and we will have a table set up for people to put in their model entries. It's a free for all for the competition, so gunpla will be next to things like warhammer and my little pony (we had some awesome MLP entries in Brisbane), which makes for an interesting display.

If you are interested in entering, you just need to show up on the Saturday to get your entry in. (Your entry must not have been entered in one of the Supanova competitions before, but we do hope you will put in completely fresh entries that haven't been seen before!) There will be a people's choice award, with prizes for the top three voted entries.

Anyway, main reason for this post is the callout to see if GAF would like to have a display table at the event again! Like Gold Coast last year and Brisbane this year we have space available for GAF to show off some kits, promote the forum, and help hook people onto gunpla! We have 3 passes to go with the table, so the volunteers will get free entry to the event (skipping queues no less), and I'm sure they will be able to rotate amongst themselves for who is at the table so that they all get a good chance to enjoy the convention.

Let me know here if you're interested in manning the display through the weekend (or even just the Saturday or the Sunday, as we can rotate the passes), and once we have the people sorted all should be good. Sonar and Hamish have been good in the past to bring the promo materials for the club, so I'm hoping they'll be able to do so again this year.

Joint Exercises / Brisbane Supanova 2014
« on: November 17, 2014, 02:54:32 PM »
Heys guys,

I talked to a few of you guys at QMHE about the upcoming Supanova in Brisbane (November 28-30). We've got the same style of thing happening as we did for Gold Coast, where we would like to invite 3 GAF members to man a table of display kits promoting both GAF and GunPla style hobbying in general. Free admission (with entry queue skipping!) for those who volunteer, and the space provided at no cost to GAF.

So basically we are hoping three people will put up their hand to be representatives for a fun day at Supanova. Expectation is that at least one member of GAF is at the table from 1:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday the 28th of November, 9:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday the 29th, and 9:00am to 6:00pm on Sunday 30th. That's all! We're not letting Supanova try and push you guys into doing anything on top of that, and Zombster will handle anything additional that comes up ourselves so that you guys have a stress free fun weekend.

We've cleaned up a lot of the smaller organisational issues, so while there is no competition this year instead there is a people's choice competition voted on by the public. There will be three places with prizes (1st/2nd/3rd) and a runner up/honourable mention if there are enough entries. Zombster is looking after two sessions on the stage (one on Friday - GunPla Build Fighters episodes, one on Saturday - group build or something) and will be running a workshop while kits last throughout the weekend. Workshop kits are rather limited this time around so it will probably run out by the end of Saturday.

We also have the wonderful guys from IPMS coming through to help out with the general hobby side of things. Similar to what we had happen in Gold Coast earlier this year.

So who is interested? We can have different people for each day, so if you can only do one day, or only want to do one day, just mention it (it would just mean we have to swap around who has the passes each day).

Joint Exercises / Gundam Mid Year Campaign 2014
« on: July 01, 2014, 11:49:34 AM »

Same shenanigans as the previous campaign: The draws are instant wins, but BANDAI does want you to hold onto the card in case you need to reconfirm it to receive your prize.  This campaign ends 21/9/2014.

The cards are available to give out with each Gundam model kit purchase now.  We will have the cards at SMASH and if we should have cards left by the time QMHE rolls around, we will have the cards there as well.

We do always recommend entering as we've had a lot of winners over the years.  During the last campaign one of our customers won the PG set, another won the MG set, and another won the elusive Dendrobium!

The real question is what will flamingeyebrows win this time?

Joint Exercises / QMHE style display for Supanova
« on: March 05, 2014, 01:40:56 PM »

We've been working with the Supanova crew on the Imagineers Playground for Gold Coast, and one of the things that we really wanted to create an opportunity for is a display by GAF at the event, similar to what you do at QMHE.

We've got the go ahead on the space, so I'd like to invite three GAF members to put on a (one 6 foot table) display to promote GunPla, BANDAI hobbies in general, and the forums! There is no cost involved for the space, and it will include free entry to the event. All that is asked for in return is for there to always be someone (preferably 2 people) at the table ready to answer questions and keep an eye on the GAF display so nothing goes walking.

Supanova Gold Coast is held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th of April. The volunteers for this display will have access on Friday the 4th to set up the display. Bring kits! Bring signs! Bring fliers! Let's get more people into GunPla! The estimated attendance will be over 25,000 people, so this is a great chance to get the forum out there.

Joint Exercises / Gunpla New Year Campaign
« on: December 13, 2013, 03:05:51 PM »
We have the cards (for anyone that has picked up a kit since the 29th of November come collect your cards when you can). The competition appears to be back to the one round format, with entries closing on the 14th of February.

For more info visit:

It's important to not that the wording on the back of the card indicates BANDAI want you to hang onto the cards this time around - so make sure you store them somewhere safe and keep them in good condition. Winners will be contacted by email, and all results are planned to be posted on the website on the 21/2/2014.

But we all know the real question is "What will FlamingEyebrows win this time?"

Joint Exercises / Campaign the 5th Australia Edition!
« on: July 12, 2013, 01:20:20 PM »

We have code cards to be given away with GunPla kit purchases! Online orders of GunPla will receive the cards too, and don't forget we've got a nice sale going on until the end of the month too!

More information through here (just hit the link within the post)

And this seems to be valid for some more info:
(not sure about the prize distributions as like last time different pages have different prizes, so at this point I am assuming the facebook post is the correct info for Australia)

Joint Exercises / Campaign the 4th Australia Edition!
« on: December 11, 2012, 12:10:40 PM »
The competition is almost identical to before, promotion cards with codes on them given away with certain kit purchases - this time around it's any kit from Seed, AGE, and Unicorn. The code on the cards is to be entered onto the website for your chance to win amazing prizes. The website closes entries on the 18th of February. For more information go here for a direct link to the entry and prizes page.

Just double check when you visit the page that the country is set to Australia - as there is one big difference with the campaign this time around! Australia is being treated as it's own area, so we're no longer in competition with all of the countries between us and Japan that we were included with last time. There aren't as many prizes, but since it's just Australia the distribution is actually better than last time.

We've got the cards, and I'm sure most of the local stores will have received theirs by now as well!
We will also be including them with any online purchases from our store.

It is that time of the year to announce the Brisbane Qualifying round of the 2013 Australian GunPla Builders World Cup Circuit.

This time around we are introducing a new category exclusive to the Queensland events: Open Category.  The Open Category is different than the one you would find at the Sydney finals.  Our Open Category is for all BANDAI kits OUTSIDE of the Gundam Universe.  With identical rules to the our Advanced Category, Open is designed for all of your Evangelion, Eureka 7, Code Geass, MG Figurise, etc kits that do not belong to the Gundam universe.  You can, however, kit bash a kit from outside the Gundam universe with a kit within the Gundam universe.  So EVA Unit 01 kit bashed with an RX-78-2 is ok! The general rule for Open is that it must contain at least one non-Gundam piece, preferably at least 25% of the entry.  All kits used in the Open Category must be BANDAI manufactured!

As we are entering the 2013 Australian circuit year, winners of the Advanced Categories in both the Brisbane and Gold Coast events will be eligible to win at the Brisbane 2012 event.

Joint Exercises / BGBWC Gold Coast Supanova 2012 - Results Announced
« on: December 01, 2011, 03:51:43 PM »
It is TIME for us to ANNOUNCE something truly AMAZING! Zombster will be holding a BGBWC Qualifying round at the Gold Coast at Supanova 21-22 of April 2012! Details are still being sketched out, but we will make it happen by hook or by Z’Gok!

We are currently building a special website just for this competition, which will contain all of the rules and entry details you need to know. It’s only a few days away, but we will post the link as soon as we have it up and running. Most questions will be answered in the webpage and its FAQ, so bear with us until it is up before asking questions.

And for those of you who are thinking “I’m not a hardcore modeller, so why would I enter Zombster’s BGBWC?” we have the perfect answer for you:

Benefits of entering the BGBWC!
- Want to enter but feel it's a lot of effort and nothing in return? Have no fear!  The Zombster BGBWC Membership Card is here! Now everyone has a reason to enter! This card gives you a 5% discount on ALL purchases from Zombster for a year! Yes, that 5% discount even includes things that are NOT GunPla!!! Plus we attach it to your login account, so that any purchases you make through the webstore will automatically have that 5% discount! How do you obtain this wonderful card? Simply by entering a Zombster hosted BGBWC and being a participating member of the competition, you will receive your card! For people who entered the Brisbane 2011 BGBWC Qualifier Round, you already have it (You just need to collect it and help us attach it to your account, well, once we’ve printed the cards that is)! This is a real physical card, how awesome is THAT?!? You get to flash it around and show people and they will marvel at your awesome Zombster BGBWC Membership Card!

Tl:dr – enter a BGBWC run by Zombster and have your entry on display, receive a card that gives you 5% off all purchases for a year from the Zombster store

Zombster is pleased to announce that Zombster will be running the first Bandai GunPla Builders World Cup - Brisbane Qualifier this year through the Brisbane Supanova event happening on the 4th - 6th of November at the RNA Showgrounds.  Zombster is very excited to bring the qualifier to Brisbane and hopes to increase the Brisbane presence at the 2012 Australian finals in Sydney.

We're still ironing out the details for the event, but we wanted to make sure that you have plenty of time to prepare your entries.  You can submit your entry form here.  You will also find the current rules and regulations regarding the event as well as the category definitions.  A brief explanation of the categories:

For entries built out of box with no modification or scratch building and no dioramas.  Painting and official Gundam decals are encouraged.  One entry per person.

Open for any type of kit remodeling, scratch building is allowed for additional parts to incorporate with the kit. Multiple entries allowed per person.

As with the Sydney finals, there are also matching junior categories for those 14 and under.

As Brisbane Supanova is a 3-day event, we kindly ask everyone to bring their entries on Friday, 4th of November while Supanova’s doors are open, 1-7 PM.  We highly recommend if you are going to attend the Supanova event to purchase a weekend pass for easy (read: easier) entry on Saturday and Sunday.  People’s Choice votes will only be accepted on Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM.  The winners will be announced Sunday afternoon.

Please use this thread for questions and comments.  We are open to suggestions.  We will be announcing further information regarding the awards soon.

Joint Exercises / Armageddon Sydney!!
« on: February 15, 2011, 05:55:43 PM »
Exclamation points necessary!! It's at The Dome on Feb 26 & 27!!

Usual convention deal for us, we will be selling a very wide range of kits and other assorted anime/manga/popculture related goods at the convention at convention special prices. We also love putting names to faces so be sure to come through and say hello!

The convention itself is lining up to being a good competitor for Supanova, which is a win-win situation for stall holders and attendees as both conventions keep getting bigger and brighter stars and attractions. Details of Armageddon Sydney can be found here.
