Title: Plastic on Polycap?
Post by: Tkyrios on October 31, 2014, 12:34:13 PM
How's it going modellers of Australia!!

I've been trying to find a solution all over the internet and couldn't seem to find anything. Anyway, I just recently bought and built the HG Build Burning Gundam, and the new polycaps for the arms are total rubbish. The polycap runner comes with the usual polycap ball joint for arms which works much much better but I've had no luck what so ever connecting the polycap to the plastic part. Is there anyway at all to connect polycap to plastic? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just for a reference, I'm trying to connect polycap 4 on PC-001 2008.

Thanks!!!

What do you mean by connect? Do you want to glue it?

Would be nice if told us where you live as products differ greatly between countries ;-)

We have a product here that will glue polyethylene to other plastics, it's called Selleys All Plastics & Toy Glue but I doubt it would be called that overseas. Loctite or Henschel may have a product but you need a fairly specialised glue to do the job properly as polyethylene doesn't take too kindly to most glues.

you cannot glue polycap to plastic.
what you can do however is build small plastic housing where the poly part is inside then you can glue two plastics together... :)

dj898, you may not have the glue I mentioned above in your country but it does glue polyethylene to plastic. I've used it on a number of occasions  :)

If you are clever and game enough, you can also putty the sucker in!
