Title: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge! **WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!**
Post by: Sonar on August 04, 2011, 09:05:04 AM
MG Delta Plus Recolour Challenge!

Exploding onto shelves across Japan today is Bandai's latest Master Grade release from the Gundam Unicorn series, the Master Grade Delta Plus! (http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN970962)

We here at Gundam Australia are very excited about this release, and to celebrate we are offering our members the opportunity to participate in a Delta Plus re-colouring challenge with the opportunity to win some awesome prizes courtesy of our sponsors Hobbylink Japan! (http://www.hlj.com/top/Gun)

It's quite simple, all you have to do is build and paint an MG Delta Plus kit using colours that are different to the stock colour scheme, (of course being mindful of basic techniques such as nub and seam removal will be to your advantage). Complete your kit by February 28th, 2012 and post it up in this thread at Gundam Australia for your chance to win some great prizes courtesy of Hobbylink Japan. Our members will vote for the top three entries, the ranking of which will be decided by a GAF judging panel.

So what are you waiting for? Get cracking GAF! By all accounts it looks to be an awesome build, and I am a big fan of the Zeta style look of the design.

Get yours now at HLJ (http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN970962).

For some ideas on where some of our members are going with their kit and a whole lotta pics, see the discussion topic here (http://gundamaustralia.com/forum/index.php?topic=1452.0).

Recolour challenge rules are as follows:

Must be an MG Delta Plus
Must be painted in a different pallette to stock colours
Must be completed by February 28th, 2012
Observing basic modelling techniques would be to your advantage

Please post any questions in this thread.

Prizes:

1st Prize: MG Full Armor Unicorn (http://www.hlj.com/product/ban973138)

Runners Up: HG Banshee (Destroy Mode) (http://www.hlj.com/product/ban973901) & HG Banshee (Unicorn Mode) (http://www.hlj.com/product/ban973902)

Did I not promise some AWESOME prizes?

Thanks very much of course to our awesome sponsors Hobbylink Japan (http://www.hlj.com/top/gun).

Don't even have the model yet and I'm already playing with ideas =P.

Currently am working on a new rifle and is also my first real attempt into modding a kit.

I ordered a Delta Plus (which is a surprise considering I barely had enough money). I should have it within the week. By the way, what happens if we do not meet the deadline (aside from being disqualified/losing)?

I think I could get away with priming it and flat coating it and you naysaying philestines wouldn't know the difference anyway. :P

Great sig Cezar!

If you do not meet the deadline you do not qualify for prizes, and bear the eternal shame of failing to complete a GB, which will carry over and compound for every GB you enter and do not complete (unless you are infallible like ME) ;D

That is IJN Grey.
Title: Re: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge!
Post by: Sonar on August 09, 2011, 09:40:54 AM
The IJN grey I have is much darker than that.

Royal Light Grey is what I painted my ReZEL grey parts with and it looks similar. Had a pretty hard time seeing the paint go on over the primer as well.

No more than two hours I think. While I haven't been building straight through, I just finished the legs. Pretty easy build I think. Harder than the ReZEL, but easier than the Unicorn.

I will have none of this blasphemy! It's definitely Transformerish, but not Bayformerish.

It's not a giant kit, the box is surprisingly small.

I'll have photo comparisons of it with the Zeta Plus and Re-Gz, and another with the ReZEL and Unicorn. I didn't feel like reposing my Sinanju so she won't be making an appearance.

The more I mess with this kit, the more I find things I don't like lol. I nearly lost the thumb too.

Edit - Wow, didn't realize what time it was. Just got done taking a whole bunch of photos. Still need to do a transformation before I can start on the review. It'll all have to wait till tomorrow.

Exactly what I was thinking, but I think SamuelDecal should have D+ decals soon enough since they already have the 1/144 one. Decals from Bandai will probably take a while though, considering that Epyon still does not have waterslide decal loving. :|

BTW, to anyone that has their kit: Does the manual contain decent line art or is it like "special" manuals?

Per the instruction manual the Delta Plus was born out of wedlock following a hot night of metal on metal action between the Hyaku Shiki and the Zeta Gundam.

Nicely played shaid.

I've always had a problem with it's/its. It would probably do me good to be puled up on it occassionally.

That said, stop polluting my thread with tripe you two.

The inability to hold the rifle kinda sucks, Gonna see if the hole that the rifle pegs in can be widened, if not I dunno how in the world will I fit the rifle on it (Seriously bandai, you could have at least taken a cue with the ReZEL hands)

@Sonar:
Had 5 friends who wanted to do a Delta Plus like that. No surprise at all. now all we need is for someone to actually convert Delta Plus into the actual Delta Gundam... (I can foresee one very soon)

Sounds like Bandai's hinting at a Delta Gundam release...

Also, I have a fix for the legs. Working on one for the rifle. Will post later.

There has to be a simple workaround for the rifle. All of the painted builds thus far have been holding it and standing fairly well.

Mine arrived today too! Paint scheme planning commenced.

As other people mentioned, the box is quite shallow. Looks kinda empty even so, when you open it. They should've used a box like the MG GN-X had.

Now to work out how to mix the deep dark red paint colour I need...

Ekka is QLD's equivalent to the Royal Easter Show, i.e. annual event with pavillions, farmer stuff, hot chilli sauce, animals, rides, showbags etc.

How bizarre that the public holiday for the further out suburbs is today and the p/h for the more inner suburbs is Wednesday. QLD is funny like that I guess.

Is anyone going to the ekka? I really wanted to pick up a couple of bottles of chilli sauce but I won't have time to go.

Okay, cool. Another question...

I was thinking of going with this camo pattern...

I think it will look better than the splotchy pattern considering the strong lines on the Delta.
Title: Re: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge!
Post by: fury-s12 on August 16, 2011, 03:25:33 PM
Spot on with the camo idea definitely lends itself to sharper lined camo over splotchy, also agree on the frame colour I rekon frames should be a significantly different shade or colour from the rest

Title: Re: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge!

The first kit I ever painted was honestly awful, TheBloody13th. An effing awful job. Hand painted, no nub removal; I just painted over them. I loved it, though. I've still got it somewhere, I should dig it out for a show and tell.

We all start somewhere. We all eff kits up still. Even if it's just a fingerprint on a white piece you don't notice til you've done the topcoats and decals.

I'm saying you should just go for it. The build itself is the reward, even if the end result looks like something your neighbours cats keep ishting in your carport.

So I got my D+ last Saturday (with the box all mangled up. Thanks unreliable courier!) and started building it yesterday. It was all fine and dandy except for a runner that got bent (no parts got bent though), but as I was assembling the skirt today, I noticed that the thin parts on the back skirt actually bent and broke. Dang it.  :(

Title: Re: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge!
Post by: Sonar on August 17, 2011, 11:30:27 AM
Ouch Adrian, that sucks hard dude. Try making a claim against the couriers, or if you ordered from HLJ, try emailing them and explaining what happened with the runner number and parts numbers you need replaced and see if they might be able to help?

Falldog that sounds good. Maybe rather than doing a whole lot of masking, you might be able to achieve an interesting camo effect by differently colouring the many sections of the armour? I won't really know if that's a possibility until I build it but there's a thought anyway.
Title: Re: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge!
Post by: Falldog on August 17, 2011, 11:50:51 AM
That box must have been through hell for a runner to bend like that and actually take a piece with it.

Falldog that sounds good. Maybe rather than doing a whole lot of masking, you might be able to achieve an interesting camo effect by differently colouring the many sections of the armour? I won't really know if that's a possibility until I build it but there's a thought anyway.
I'm only going to be doing the camo on a few pieces here and there, mainly the broader boring pieces like wings, legs, and shield. I'm thinking that the of the two grays I have, I need a third.

As I have it now, the dark blues are going to go to black with the main color for the rest of the kit being a light aircraft gray. I was going to do the camo bits in a dark gray, close to the gray Bandai uses for a lot of frames, and for some odd details here and there. Now I think that a third gray, in somewhere in the middle, should be for the cammo patterns as to not completely overwhelm.

In other news I've been using a pencil to map out the scribing I want to do. It's working great until *rub rub rub* what happened to my lines?

I've also drilled a hole in to the hand and handle of my mega rifle so that it can actually hold onto it. I've decided to forgo that little sight bit on the left, without it the kit the gun looks better, balanced, from a visual prospective.

Tempted but pass. Good luck guys, would be interesting to see what you guys came up with. I dare someone to paint it in different shade of yellow with hexagonal lines all over the kit!

This idea is chewing my brain on a daily basis. Make it stop!! MAKE IT STOP!!
Anyway, I will be joining this GB and will get my D+ around September with Tamiya's Yellow (http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/list/spray_img/ts16.gif) Camel Yellow (http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/list/spray_img/ts34.gif) Chrome Yellow (http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/list/spray_img/ts47.gif)

What I plan to do is yellow > flat coat > hexagonal mask > chrome yellow > gloss coat > remove mask. Camel Yellow is for the dark blue parts (will mull that over, seems abit too much yellow). As this is my first time spray painting bright colours, I am gonna give it a good hard thinking as I could easily go different shade of grey.

Just finished assembling the kit today, minus the rifle, and it seems to stand pretty well. If you're lazy (and you haven't assembled the legs yet), leaving a tiny bit of nub on the insides of part J9 may add little (but barely enough) friction to keep the kit standing.

Started painting today. There are just so many parts I can't actively paint them all at the same time so I'm going to have to go limb by limb.

It doesn't help that nearly *every* part on this kit is getting painted. The frame alone is getting three different colors.

I did some concept painting today (while in a lecture too  >:(), I only came out with the overall colour scheme that I will be going with and a lame name. Also tried drawing some hexagon on him but still not too sure on what colour to use for them (as my colour pens are quite limited in terms of different hues/saturation of yellow). The black parts was supposed to be orange, but I decided against it and splash black on top of it. Am ordering the Delta soon-ish.

I do like the hexagons. I was able to scavenge a nice hexagonal cut plate to use a stencil. Not sure which kit I'm going to use it on yet.

More updates on my kit...

Repaint of the frame is going well, looks good. For the frame pieces I've decided to use somewhat inconsistent looking sparkly paints and leave them somewhat glossy. The idea is that, in contrast to the rest of the kit, they'll be greasy, sort of like internal parts are.

A whole bunch of the outer pieces are done. Going to give them some more time to finish drying before I hit it with some dull coat.

Pictures you say? Well pfft, that would ruin the surprise, wouldn't it?

Looking good Falldog! I'm still uhming and ahing over what colours to do my frame in. I like that red.

Here's a question:
Has anyone tried using alclads with multiple colours on one piece? Should I:

A: Do one colour (gloss black + shiny shiny colour), mask off the bit I want to keep, and then do a new layer of gloss black + shiny.

B: Do the gloss black, mask, spray one colour, invert mask, spray other colour?

C: Do gloss black + shiny chrome, then mask, then do top colours in transparent colours?

I did some experimenting and found a cool way to get a nifty metallic red. Might do a tutorial on it (and reveal my secrets bwahaha)

Glad you guys like. No work on it this week, unfortunately, as it's rain rain and more rain. My hometown a few hours north is badly flooded.

Something like Alclad2 chrome + a nice shade of transparent red?

I'll be using a bit of metallic red on mine, so hopefully it'll come out okay.

There's a lot of small parts in the arm armour for this bugger.  At least the rest of the suit has larger pieces.
I think I've got cramp from nub removal.

Did anyone see the blue/white version over at GundamGuy? Almost makes me want to change my colour scheme.

Post by: Kjasi on September 15, 2011, 06:32:15 AM
@Wavehawk: It's obvious that TheBloody13th is too young to know. But I agree.

@TheBloody13th: The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated TV show that aired in the late 80s, early 90s, had another bad guy who commanded Shredder, named Krang. For lack of a better description, (and it's been so long since I've seen the show, I don't exactly remember) he's some kind of alien brain with a face that's super-smart, but with totally incompetent cronies. That picture is of the alien Krang. This TV show is also where they got the idea for Tokka and Razar in the second TMNT movie.

I find this kit really resemble with Zeta Plus due to the transformation mechanism  and it is greatly improved though the MG suffer from slight stability issues due to the feet design.

I haven't made much progress yet either. Ran into issues with the camo and last month's rainy weather stopped me from painting.

Just finish my last paper this morning, gunpla sequence restart! Will hopefully try to finish this build before I go back to Malaysia for a month. If not, the extended deadline is a good welcome.

I've snapped my DP. It is a really great looking kit. The design and proportions are teriffic. I didn't enjoy the assembly process much at all though. Frustrating to assemble and nowhere near the joy the ReZel was. I did the superglue fix in the main offending joint and it stands just fine and has not fallen down once, but IMO needs the fix applied in the other two moving joints in the foot as well. MG Epyon was way more fun to build ;)

Transforming kits (without or with minimal need for part swapping) is relatively new territory for Bandai. I look at the rare fails like this one as a learning curve for them to produce better kits by. I know how demanding english speaking gunplars are, I can only imagine the Japanese reviews being similar. Bandai will know the shortcomings of the kit and will give us a better product next time because of it.

Bandai's 5th MG kit was the transformable Zeta. This is something they've been doing for a while and their transformation gimmicks have always come at a cost. Aside from the feet the kit is pretty solid considering.
Title: Re: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge! **DEADLINE EXTENDED!!**
Post by: Sonar on December 03, 2011, 09:48:15 AM
Up until Zeta 2.0 transformable kits have been regarded as poorly executed, so it is a developing field as I said. The Zeta 2.0 and ReZEL were the closest they've come to the sweet spot.

I had to admit that this kit suffer plenty of issues and i really find the transformation process is unbearable :( . But in the end Bandai still makes the kit look good in terms of appearance.

Seeing as how I'm doing a spare parts order, and the Delta Plus can attach 2 extra rifles to its backpack, does anyone want an extra rifle/rifles?

I might order parts to construct another 10 rifles if anyone wants to double up.

Let me know.

Well it needs to be a MG D+ kit so your HGUC kit is not counted.
Title: Re: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge! **PRIZES ANNOUNCED!!**
Post by: Sonar on December 29, 2011, 09:07:01 AM
Correct. It has to be an MG and it has to be recoloured in something other than stock colours, as mentioned in the OP.

You should still get the HG though. It's an awesome kit. Just get an MG too ;)

Very nice Falldog! I like the use of red and yellow to contrast the greys. Couple of areas need a wash applied to highlight the edges (such as the front groin piece for example) but otherwise a very nice Delta+!!

The base could do with some paint. Agree with GoZ could do with a wash as well.

Looking good FD. Looking real good.

I have placed the spare parts order and will have 10 extra D+ rifles on the way for the end of Feb 2012. Remember the Delta + has mountings on the backpack for 2 extra rifles? Would look super cool IMHO.

Who is interested in one or two extra rifles? :)

innerframe has been primed with gloss black followed by a dose of ginsan
all the piping, hydraulics, shield missiles and beam saber handles were primed with gloss black and sprayed with alclad pale gold
beams were given a dose of alclad clear green followed by prismatic scarabeus

got to see what paints i got in my stash to give it my chosen look. got a week and  a few days before i get back to work so plenty of time for me to get most if all done

its pretty much glitter of blue and green. good for stuff like green beams and even using on kits like exia, quanta and 00 which are full of green. theres also a red to purple of the same thing which is good for tau gn condensers
got this love for alclad thanks to alan and jason :)

update, 1 3rd of the outer armor parts have been primed ready for tomorrow afternoons dose of paint, gold parts have been pane lined with a wash of tamiya brown. gotta need to pick more enamel thinner to clean excess crap from panel washing

Depending on how my first foray into painting/customizing a Gunpla kit in the Grunt GB goes, I may hop on board for this one.

I've largely ignored Delta Plus since I dislike the standard colour scheme, so this is a good excuse to finally buy one. :D

My colour scheme? Hmm....thinking something along the lines of 'Zeon' warpaint.  ;)

Still plenty of time to go.... so will see.

update: from the lot of parts i just sprayed and topcoated, 9 parts needs to be redone due to uneven coating.... too dark to redo these and just washed my filter as well. but most of the parts turned out wonderfully.
assembled the head to test it out and i think it turned out smashing
(http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/384805_10151151824395445_670410444_22605558_102603452_n.jpg)
yeah its kinda a bit on the bright side due to a blown lightbulb in my room and a floodlight had to suffice since i tried to put a new bulb but it wouldnt go in its socket no thanks to loose hinges

anyway ill take more of what ive done tomorrow or something. this shall be done ( or most of it before i head back to work)
time to soldier on!

Hemish: I took your advice with it and it comes out blinging. need to do this for the sinanju short axe beams as well

Well given that I got 5 more days til I get back to work I would have love to finish it beforehand so that I can get cracking on the sinanju which I've held up for way too long. Want to also tackle my first dio this year with a few certain mg kits I've prebuilt

Anyway I was meant to go to tassie early into my holidays but ferry was booked out in advance so ended up going to Lorne instead. Great place and didn't get hit by the bad weather Victoria gotten around Xmas to boxing day. Things I now need to tackle are getting hold of either more wave decals in white or using my loose set of decals from previous sets I've purchased. I should have left over ones since the days I've built up that black unicorn and even the Res comm. Dunno where they went now

well restocked more paint, mainly mr hobby matte black since i ran out and the last batch was a bit lumpy.
more will be done tomorrow. plan on the day is to redo the parts which were uneven and topcoat them, then start priming the next lot of parts, spray that with its respectable coats of paint and topcoat that.. feels a bit like a routine but in a good way :)

and sven, welcome to the delta corps. time for you to get started yo!

now up to the 2nd part of the priming of the delta parts

good news: 2nd lot of parts primed and ready for painting
bad news: my gravity fed airbrush has carked it ( again). the tip section where you can unscrew to clean that tip broke off when i tried to unscrew it with the spanner it came with. had to ue my air fed bottle airbrush to do my priming

gonna be delayed again... :(

Edit: guess i can get another airbrush tomorrow or wait it out and get a better one from hlj. last thing i want is splatter from my airbrushing and its what ive been getting recently before the carking. hmmm

mmm falldog. fa unicorn should be a massive drive to get yours done. sonar, in regards with the rulings, do we have to use the decals provided with the kit or can we use decals from something like wave coz considering its paintjob i would think using decal regardless from which brand would matter. i havent decalled mine yet but i would like to ask this before i place mine on coz i was going to display this elsewhere with decals on

Yeah, my favorite parts of the kit are the ones you don't see. Everything else is just going to be bleh no matter what I do.

And, while having a 5th MG Unicorn would be nice, I have no where to put it and enough kits to work on as is :/

thats the thing, im going to use bubble wrap on the long parts and whatever else in decent sized envelope
its all comes down to time and ive been once again busy so sorry for the holdup sven.

ahh and as for weapons? since i wanna utilize the unicorn bazooka with this as an imagination of that it commandeered the bazooka like it did with the beam magnum in the ova. what says you?

Oh yeah hopefully you don't mind about the gloss black I did. Originally I was going to chrome certain sections of the rifle but I decided to go for something else. Ooo sonar so you approve of my idea. Time to smash this thing this weeekend! Found white decals too so this thing wont look so boring

I've started to make a drive down the homestretch with this kit. Favorable weather today/tomorrow will help a lot.

I only have a handful of parts left that need touch ups, most awaiting a final dull coat touch up.

I was referrering more to how the glue likes to form a stronger bond to your finger than the paint does to the kit.

okay, what happen is my brother just got confirmation from the doctor that his wife is pregnant (yey another nephew soon :P) and that's mean I'm not allowed to paint gundam at all (that make me very sad because I just finished the upper body armors). That made me depress since this is my first time join a challenge here and it'll be my entry for BKWC this year. Been looking for place to paint the kit like underground garage (I live in apartment btw) and fire stairs but I don't think it will work. So with this post I'm officialy withdraw my entry for this challenge >.< and good luck and have fun for other challengers. (btw, that FA unicorn and HGUC Banshees still lying around in my mind >.<)

Not going down without a fight. I do apologise for the lack of update on my part. Yellow just does not agree with me. Been stripping paint (4 times for this project alone) and getting drunk on methyl spirits. I sorta gave up on this, screaming profanity at the spray cans.

Then it struck me, what's the colour that I am most comfortable with? Black of course... with white and silver inner frame, what could go wrong? A week worth of rain is what.

Anyway, I painted the leg armors today, assembled one for preview and will continue with the body and arms. I will have to omit the wings due to the lack of paint (plus I kinda liked the way it looked without).

If primer counts as a recolour I'm good to enter. (Since Sonar is judging it probably should! ;P )

I'm sad I didn't get to finish, but haven't had a chance to do anything lately due to some rather tragic family events.

When I do manage to get back into things I'll post mine. It's Zeta Plus/Hi-nu inspired.

For those who have finished, there's some good results here! Good luck everyone!

Haha nice one ZM! Made it by the skin of your teeth!

Submissions for the Delta Plus Recolour comp are now officially closed.

Thank you very much to all entrants, participants, finishers. If you were unable to finish, we'd still love to see your D+ when you are able to.

I will now commence to trawling through the previous 25 pages of this thread for all completed entries and begin my judging process.

Winners will be posted in this thread ASAP, though please take into consideration that my wife and I have a baby due any day and when that happens I will probably go awol for a few days while I look after the kids, visit wife & baby in hospital, etc..

Thanks again for participating ;D

The question is whether to gundam-proof the baby or baby-proof the gundam..
Title: Re: Master Grade Delta Plus Recolour Challenge! **PRIZES ANNOUNCED!!**
Post by: shauno on March 01, 2012, 04:51:50 PM
gundam proof the baby for sure! i heard that for babies, chobham armor works well against solid rounds, while an anti beam coating will work for beam weaponary. all you need to protect your child against the threat of those pesky gundams..

...and the winners are......

Surprising actually!

I envisioned some wild departures from the stock standard grey, and what I got was a couple of shades on the colour wheel at most.  :D

When I initially launched this idea I thought that the design of the kit and the close-to-primer grey that the original images portrayed was a relatively blank canvas begging for some wild alterations. I thought it was a real imagination exciter. Something to get the creativity burning.

As you will see below, all of the completed entries were of a very high standard, not deviating more than two shades away from grey. Silver. Gold. Black. Light grey. We almost had a pink one but it wasn't to be. We almost had a bright yellow as well but that came unstuck as well. Perhaps it is the curse of the Delta Plus? ;)

Spoiler: Discussing the Kit (click to show/hide)

On to the competition:

As with all competitions we have more starters than we do finishers so let me first congratulate everybody who finished and secondly thank all of you who attempted an entry. I still would love to see those who did not make it to completion do so.

By your accounts this was a difficult and trying kit to complete. Well done on making it happen.

All of the completed entries are of a high standard. I would go so far as to call some of them exceptional.

So let's have a look at the entries shall we?

1st Place: Falldog! Winning a MG Full Armor Unicorn courtesy of Hobbylink Japan (http://www.hlj.com/product/ban973138)

Smooth, fresh, and clean. The Big Boi of the Delta Plus recolour comp. For my liking the most imaginative and professionally executed paint job. Light colours are difficult to apply smoothly and evenly, and the yellow compliments the grey so well. Metallic red pistons for some pop and the medium and darker tones to tie it all together. Bonus points go to Falldog for the awesome base which I really like a lot, for going to the trouble to take 15 good photos, and for transforming the kit once painted. I also enjoyed the addition of the ReZEL Commander's BFG and the extra ReZEL rifle added to the backpack. None of these things influenced my decision however. Solely looking at colours and application.

Falldog you mention having enough MG Unicorns to start a small army. If you wish to swap your FA Unicorn with one of the other guys for one of their HG Banshees that's your call mate. ;)

2nd Place: Wolfman X! Winning a HG Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee - Destroy Mode courtesy of Hobbylink Japan (http://www.hlj.com/product/ban973901)

For a smart and subdued shift in pigmentation ;) The differences in tone that you have achieved are subtle and really very complimentary to each other. The chrome frame and bazooka bring it to life, and the gold highlights on the pistons, beam saber handle, and shield barrels make it sparkle. I'd love to have seen that gold used somewhere on the upper body and pehaps as a highlight on the bazooka as well. This is pretty close to the ReZEL colour scheme which is something I was really hoping to see. Great to see you advancing with the Airbrush at such a steady pace mate. Props to you for being consistent throughout and making it by the deadline.

3rd Place: Zenma5ter! Winning a HG Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee - Unicorn Mode courtesy of Hobbylink Japan (http://www.hlj.com/product/ban973902)

Chrome, black, and grey. Simple, dark, stealthy. I imagine this Delta Plus arriving from nowhere and departing just as quickly, leaving half a dozen pieces of dismembered mobile suit in its wake. It is the contrast here that excites me, backed up with some very clean application. Props to you mate for scrapping your original idea and coming through in the clutch with only moments to spare. A mid court buzzer beater if ever there were one! I would have loved to have seen the Bumblebee yellow version. ;)

Congratulations guys! Thank you for participating in the Gundam Australia Delta Plus Recolour comp! Your prizes will be forwarded directly to you from HLJ. Please now contact me via PM to ensure I have your current address on file.

My decision was solely based on how well I thought each entrant applied a different colour scheme to the Delta Plus both in terms of palette selection and paint application. It was a difficult decision and entirely came down to my personal preference :P I liked each of the entries for different reasons, but winners must be chosen.

Yami: I loved your Hyaku Shiki Delta Plus. Very smoothly applied and faithfully replicated. I wish you had included more shots with the backpack!
Shauno: Beautiful application and great selection of colours. Some very, very nice metallics ever so slightly let down in the prep of some areas.

You guys both score a 10% off discount code for a HLJ order. Please PM me to claim your prize.

Please also allow me to extend my apologies that I was unable to acquire the spare rifle parts prior to closing the comp. The spare parts shipment has been at a waypoint for some time and will arrive in the next few days for those of you who are still interested. I did reduce the number of rifles from 10 to 3 as I couldn't imagine selling all of them at what will probably be closer to $15 each than $10.

Furthermore my apologies for the delay in the announcement. My wife and I just had a little baby boy so I think that is a good enough excuse ;)

A special thank you to FuryS12 for your Delta Plus Recolour App, and your ongoing help with the site. You are invaluable to us mate. My sincere thanks.

Finally I would like to say a very special thank you to Syd and Ryan at HLJ (http://www.hlj.com/top/gun) for providing the prizes for the competition, for being great to work with, and for their ongoing support of Gundam Australia. You guys rock.

Thank you Hobbylink Japan (http://www.hlj.com/top/gun)!

It's good fun reading your write up and I really did not expect to earn a place on the top 3. Thank you! It was a great experience and I enjoyed climbing the learning curve (and tumbling all the way down). The pressure of finishing at the last minute is invigorating and I love every second of it. Thank you once again for organising this Group Build and thank you Fury for that wonderful app (it really helped the planning process).

To all the other contestants, I tip my hat to all of you, it is inspiring to see all the magnificent work presented (inspired me to finish mine) and shall we meet again in future GBs!

Lol Zen only by the skin of your teeth. Heck I didn't expect to be in the top 3
Learnt a great deal myself with the airbrushing and the lack of paint I needed for the colour schemes before going with the one I used I was afraid it wasn't enough to scratch the recolour scheme. I'm glad I am in the top 3 and now it inspires me to improve more. Thanks for putting up this comp sonar and to those who took part, awesome job recolouring yours esp falldog!

Grats guys for winning! I would've found this hard to judge, 'cause the two metallic ones look very nice too! Falldog is a well-deserved winner here, his Delta looks fantastic.

@Sonar: When I get around to finishing mine (with the ankles and rifle you've got arriving) it wont be grey, if that's any consolation. Wont be pink either though.

Wow, this is fantastic. With all the troubles I had on my build looking at the final shots and how it all came together was just the greatest feeling. Winning is just icing on the cake.

All of the builds in this group project are phenomenal. I just wish it were possible to get all of them together for a great group shot.

I just spent three minutes walking around my apartment punching the air in enjoyment. Not so much as that I won, but because it fulfills my need for a 5th MG Unicorn. I'm planning on taking the yellow psycho frame from the MG Banshee, putting it in a MG Unicorn and painting it a Titans MKII inspired theme. Then I'm going to use FA and Banshee parts to make a FA Banshee.
