MG GM Type C - Cannon Fodder GB
« on: March 13, 2011, 11:05:07 PM »

This is what I am building for the group build, will hit it with plaplate, might do some scribing and some koto parts and will weather it as well, so it wont be a clean mech at all
Its an enjoyable build that goes together fast, being an older kit has the dreaded seam lines but I guess anything that keeps you working on your basics is a good thing right?

these old kits are great way to enhance/polish the c-joint mod. as well as other usual mods to make it easier for me to paint and snap afterward Lego style~ ^ ^

The GM Type C always looks damn good, and in your build, it's no different.

Looks good, but what is a "c-joint mod"?

Thanks guys got some ideas on how to mod this so with any luck will get a chance to do some work on it in the next couple of days.

Ranalcus, its where you have a joint that is a pin inside a circle, and you cut the circle so its like a C that way you can take the parts apart for easy painting.

Thank you for explaining C term, I called V shaped cut.

This is going to another great work still remember the zaku2.0 you built in last GB on old forum.

Started playing with this last night
Drilled out the existing guns and replaced with Wave parts
Has been puttied and sanded back

Added a couple mm to the neck, cut and inserted some sprue frame in there, this has been cleaned up since picture

Now looking at two options for the front skirts
1, building up plaplate under a koto option part so it sits like the rx78

2, go with plaplate instead, I'm leaning more towards this one

More to come maybe tonight

Plaplate for sure. Love the neck extension. Very clever! ;)

Oh how I miss having GAF 1.0 to link to... DJ had the most righteous C-Joint mod thread there.. :(

Cheers dude, did the same thing with the hands, gave them an extension of a couple mm so it can hols the weapon a bit better.

With the neck mod, lets him look down like he all cool and badass :)

Went with the plaplate on the skirts, double layer on the front, single on the back

Did some butcher work on the arms, have done one, still have to do the other

Plaplate and koto option parts

will try to get more done on it again tonight

for the head mod.
the easier way would be this...

pic

after fixing the seam line and painting you can simply click into each other.
also I found lengthening 2mm does make the difference - I had tinkered with this exact kit when I was building Ako Hobby Spartan conversion although ended up using just skirt and bits and pieces off major parts and grafted onto type-c parts.
