Ode to Cannon Fodder - Grunt MS Group Build!
« on: March 04, 2011, 07:20:38 AM »

It's happening! The Grunt MS Group Build. This group build focuses on the common pilot and his/her common machine all through the Gundam franchise history, and now is a chance to showcase some MS that don't usually get the spotlight thanks to the illustrious Gundam!

Rules:
The kit can be any grade or make
The kit can be from ANY gundam series
The kit must be considered a grunt/mass produced mobile suit
Variations and Customs of a single Grunt suit are allowed as long as the base suit used for the customization is a Grunt suit (Commander Zakus and Gelgoogs for example, such as Johnny Ridden's Zaku II or Char's Gelgoog. )
Finish by August 30, 2011

Heavy customization is recommended. Let's make these otherwise normal suits look bad ass and use of Grunt MS GB banner is open to anyone! Good luck, Newtypes!

Announcing the Grunt MS Group Build: Ex! Once September arrives the Grunt MS Group Build will end, but only as an open GB! When Septembert arrives and the open GB ends, the Grunt MS GB will be transformed into a conditional GB! Each month (or more depending upon the demand) the Grunt MS build will issue you a challenge!

A challenge may be set up as such and may be as simple as such:
Grunt MS: Ex challenge for September: Construct a Grunt MS from Zeon only

A challenge may be set up to be as difficult and complex as:
Grunt MS: Ex Challenge for September: Construction a Grunt MS from the E.F.F. only and it must painted and pla-plated

The last week of August I will put up a poll that asks you which challenge out of four you'd like to tackle next and the next month will follow the same format. This idea is currently in beta (thought!), so if you have any ideas to help and improve this idea, let me know, August is a bit off anyway! The Grunt MS Group Build: Ex is intended to be fun, and help you finish a kit if you need inspiration, if a month goes by and no one participates, that will probably be normal, I would still provide you with content the next month regardless.  Let us challenge each other and grow as a community! Who knows...there could be prizes involved.  Wink

Sonar: "I will put up the first prize courtesy of Hemish: Your choice of either a HG Zaku I or a HG Nataku!"

There we go, we already have prizes for the first round of the Grunt MS:EX GB in September! Looking forward to it!

I think the only rule that should be in place is that it has to be a mobile suit that has a reputation for getting it's metal ass handed to it.

Suggestions (models of any grades):
GMs
Zakus
Nemos
Hi-Zacks
Leo/Taurus
Tieren/FLAGs/etc
Ginns/Strike Daggers
and the list could go on and on!

Sounds fine to me, though nothing will rank higher on that list than the original GM.

GMs forever. I swear, the onyl reason they kept getting wrecked was because the Fed pilots were lousy...

As to other mecha:
Gaza-C
Daughtress (from Gundam X)
M1 Astray
GN-X III

...god, we need more grunt suit kits...

Here's a thought: A Zaku with a half decent pilot can give a Gundam something to worry about. GM's were never armoured with Gundarium/Luna Titanium Alloy as it was considered too expensive to mine and process the ore. No wonder they get picked apart like deserted chips at the beach.

The DOM's anndGouf's? Yes, significant due to ace pilots, but do rememmber, Grunts get em later (Well the Rick dom anyway, as it succeeded the Zaku in space combat)

I am interested.  I've got a lot of generic Units from the UC.

It's a shame that The Daughtress is a limited kit.  I would have done that.

I'd also like to submit the Serpent from Gundam Wing EW for consideration.

@ Sonar, Zakus piloted by aces in Gundam Seed Destiny were able to give the Phantom Pain Gundams a good whipping.  ;D

I'm wondering about the Grunt MS in Victory, though. Hard to find a reasonably-priced Jamesgun or Javelin nowadays, and the Zanscare MS tended to do more of the butt-kicking...

That said, from V Gundam:
Zoloat
Zollidia
Jamesgun
Javelin

From F91:
Heavygun
G-Cannon
Denan-Zon

...does the Victory Gundam Hexa count..?

I have a heap of the Limited Models from X and Wing, might be a good chance to crack them open.

Alright guys, let's do it!
I will now release the details for my build. I am going to do a MSA-003 Nemo in a White Dingo color scheme in honor of GAF.

Yes Infinity, it will have LEDs!
